Revealing Dresses?
| NOT Your prom dress is supposed to be classy; you shouldn’t look like you’re going to the beach. | NOT If you can’t do it right, it just ends up looking trashy, not classy. | NOT You don’t have to reveal yourself to look good. The more you wear clothing that suits you, the better you look and the more attention you get. | NOT When you’re dancing, something might happen and you might reveal something no one else is supposed to see. That’s a big no-no. |
Matching your date?
| HOT I think it’s nice to match. People can tell that you’re together—it’s a very clean look and really cool for pictures. | NOT It’s traditional to match him to some extent, but it shouldn’t be to the point where he looks like a magician and you look like an assistant. | HOT I definitely think you should have matching ensembles because it just looks classy. If you clash, then what’s the fun of going together? | HOT You look so much cuter together and you look like you belong with each other when you do this. I absolutely love it! |
Girls asking the guys to prom?
| HOT Go ahead! You don’t have to be old-fashioned. If you really like someone, you shouldn’t have to worry or wait for the guy to ask you. | HOT C’mon, people, it’s the new millennium. If you want to go with someone, then just ask. | HOT Last year I asked a guy to prom. There really is no reason to be afraid. It has to be better than going with somebody you don’t like. | NOT It’s just something I would never do. Maybe I’m a little old-fashioned but I think that should be the guy’s job. |
Dirty dancing?
| NOT To an extent, grinding is okay, but when you’re all up on one another, it makes other people uncomfortable and looks really sleazy. | NOT I spent a lot of money on my dress. I can’t snag beads on your tux zipper. | NOT I’m not saying you should stay five feet away from each other at all times, but don’t be all over each other either. | NOT This is not the bedroom, people! And it certainly isn’t a strip club. I don’t want you to be grinding with your butt in my space. |
Sunglasses at night?
| HOT Awesome! I think it totally shows that you’re having a good time. It says you are a badass—and that’s exactly what you want people to think. | HOT If you don’t have them on, you might go blind from all the cameras flashing. | HOT It’s your prom—have fun! Besides, you’re supposed to look glamorous! | HOT I think they’re cool. As long as they’re not those awful bug-like glasses. Seriously, who wants to go to prom looking like a big bug? |
Hair extensions?
| NOT I think they are overrated; you should work with the hair you have. They don’t look natural. Some people put hair extensions in to match their dress and that’s really gross. | HOT If you can’t achieve it, weave it! I know I did and I looked great. | HOT I think that hair extensions would be so cool! You should have fun and try new things on prom night; after all it only comes once a year! | NOT Girls, you do not want to do a twirl or have someone accidentally pull on your hair and have a clump of fake hair come out. That’s just really embarrassing. |
Gangsta poses in prom photos?
| NOT I think a prom photo should be traditional—not goofy. You should smile and look nice. You don’t want to look back years from now and say, What was I thinking? | NOT Prom is an evening of poise and elegance. Save those poses for your street clothes. | NOT Why try to look like someone you are not? Just be yourself. | NOT This is supposed to be a classy night for you and your friends. Don’t ruin it with all those stupid poses! |
Asking another person’s date to dance?
| HOT Everyone is there to have a good time. Unless it’s someone’s boyfriend, there is no reason why you shouldn’t dance with as many people as you would like. | HOT You’re there to have fun. Besides, it’s your prom—not your wedding. | HOT The entire point of prom is to mix and mingle, so why not dance with another person’s prom date? As long as they aren’t already in a relationship, it’s fine. | HOT Even though you have a date, that doesn’t mean you’re stuck with him all night. After all, it’s not like you’re married to the guy. |
